laboratory technician
Responsibility
- being the primary point of contact for operations in the lab and be hands on in the resolution of issues
- manage equipment in the labs including the servicing intervals and management of maintenance schedules
- looking after inventory including ordering and stocking and managing the general lab reagents and consumables to a budget
- working with the project teams to set up and manage appropriate automation solutions
- working with the project teams to provide media, buffers, basic cultures
- carry out routine assays/experiments alongside project teams from time to time
- assisting with the expression and purification of proteins as needed
- assisting with data manipulation and analysis as needed
Education
- A BSc Honours degree in a biological or physical science
- extensive experience in a laboratory setting
- experience with aseptic technique and of using a class II safety cabinet
- experience of mammalian, bacterial or yeast cell culture
- experience in Molecular Biology will be an advantage
- experience of managing and maintaining lab stocks
- experience with robotics and laboratory automation
- experience of maintaining documents and procedures within laboratory accreditation specifications
