Responsibility
- assess, check and prepare the appropriate surgical equipment, drugs and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures
- perform mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure
- assist where required and support patients throughout the peri-operative phase of their care
- maintain records and communicate with operating room staff and doctors
- dispose of medical waste in a safe manner
- clean the operating room after each operation
- be able to lift heavy objects and assist with moving patients
- work to develop and enhance the skills of others while contributing to quality improvements across the department
