Responsibility

  • cleaning the premises. This includes a variety of areas - kitchens, toilets, communal areas and a number of meeting rooms
  • security of the premises. You will be a key holder and have responsibility for locking and unlocking the premises as well as maintaining the security of the building during your working hours
  • welcoming and assisting visitors and hirers. Purley URC hosts a wide variety of church and community activities. The job includes preparing rooms and moving tables and chairs
  • coordinating and assisting in any emergencies, such as evacuation of the premises, and general running of the premises as listed in the Caretaker’s Manual
  • monitoring the security of the church premises, including locking and unlocking doors, and reporting any suspicious activity, ensuring the safety of the church property and its occupants
  • such other duties and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required for handover between day and evening staff and to provide cover for holidays/sickness

Requirements

  • you are educated to degree level in a relevant field and IOSH or NEBOSH qualified
  • you have experience of buildings and health and safety management, managing facilities and contracts, and people management
  • you are highly customer focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • the ability to negotiate, make decisions and work collaboratively is essential
  • knowledge of project management principles and experience of providing hospitality services would be a distinct advantage
  • the United Reformed Church main office based at Church House and Methodist Church House are within 5 minutes walking distance of each other and easily accessible from major rail lines and tube stations
