Responsibility
- assisting fee earners in the management of their caseload by actioning legal procedures as directed by the fee earner
- taking instruction from clients
- supporting fee earners in the maintenance of files by effective file management

- to manage own work allocation, productivity, and quality of work under supervision

- to deal effectively with client queries by telephone or by clear and detailed letter
- assist with contract and document management system creation, implementation, and operation. Maintain database of contract templates and approved alternatives
- to record timely and accurate management information
- dealing with leasehold, freehold, remortgaging and land registry transactions
- to assist in case based tasks including obtaining informal expert opinions to assess the viability of cases
- to attend to clients, take instructions, and conduct letter and telephone enquiries as necessary
- identifying and referring questionable underwriting
- to organise diary and prioritise work
- processing sale and purchase transactions
- create and/or maintain policies around contract approvals, template management and document retention
- analysis of evidence and setting case strategies encompassing both technical and commercial considerations
- to obtain disclosure of medical records and other case related documentation
- assist in the opening of client files and updating their records onto the case management system
- establish clearly the circumstances of any loss and make appropriate liability enquiries
- to deal courteously and efficiently with estate agents and mortgagees and with solicitors/conveyancers acting in transactions
- support the procurement team by analysing risks and identifying mitigation options or drafting contract wording
- obtaining and drafting pleadings, witness statements and letters of response
- managing a high quality caseload
- conducting searches
- to prepare instructions to medical experts and counsel
- validate accounts/fee notes and authorising payments
- drafting correspondence and documents which are saved to their case management
- undertaking day to day client meetings, taking detailed instructions
- support on corporate governance functions, including maintaining and updating filings and registrations
- conducting negotiation of claims
- conducting client checks
- to prepare witness statements
- maintain accurate estimates throughout the life of the claim and make adjustments where appropriate
- review incoming correspondence and documents
- giving basic, clear advice on all aspects of family law
- manage and maintain shareholder registers
- be responsible for a varied caseload of pre-litigated or litigated work with an appropriate level of supervision, in strict adherence to the Service Level Agreement entered into with the insurer client

- minimum 18 months’ experience within Family Law
- hands on experience within Family Law work
- competent to assist with a variety of family work
- experience/qualifications relevant to commercial work
- ambitious individual who is keen to fast track their career within a growing law firm
- previous experience of property transactional work
- significant experience of handling a motor and non-motor claimant injury caseload
- excellent interpersonal skills
- show initiative
- university degree qualified. A law degree or LPC qualification would be desirable but is not essential
- working knowledge of MOJ Portal processes / CPR
- proven experience of dealing with cases arising from Employers, Public and Occupiers Liability along with the Animals Act
- good knowledge of MS office suite
- drafting legal documents
- practical experience of working in a legal office environment
- ability to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and externally at all levels
- PC literacy
- will have excellent organisational skills, along with the ability to multi task and work well under pressure
- knowledge of a Case Management System
- the firm also has an appetite to receive applications from those who also may not want to progress
- working knowledge of MOJ Portal processes
- good IT skills and system skills
- preparing bundles
- practical experience of handling client enquiries both face to face and by telephone
- you will have good technical and communication skills
- be able to accurately type at speed
- attending meetings with clients
