laboratory technician

Working hours

Responsibility

  • perform assays as per in-house standard operating procedures and validated protocols with minimal supervision involving various biological samples
  • perform isolations, cryopreservation, thawing and counting of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells
  • receiving, labelling, sorting and storing biological samples as specified by SOPs and GCLP
  • perform good housekeeping of the laboratory
  • maintenance, set up and proper use of instruments and laboratory space
  • management, monitoring and ordering of consumable stock in the labs
  • administrative duties including writing and maintaining study documentation, printing and filing reports and data entry
  • compliance with GCLP, SOPs, company standards and policies

Requirements

  • good manual dexterity, accuracy and previous experience of working in a laboratory required
  • BSc, Applied Science Diploma, T level or equivalent in Life/ Biological sciences or 1-2 years of experience in a relevant technical role
  • the job holder needs to ensure that he/she is up to date with the available training
  • on-going professional development is strongly encouraged; this may take the form of training, workshops, seminars etc
  • ability to communicate well both written and verbally and to work within a team are essential
  • must be flexible to workdays and occasionally, weekends on a shift rotation basis
  • must have full right to work in the UK
