- monitor weather conditions, vessel position and mooring tensions
- responsible primarily for the maintenance of hydraulic lift system , HPU, cranes and other hydraulic deck/drilling equipment
- ensure Maximo system equipment details and maintenance procedures are relevant and up to date
- supervise stability, stability calculations and ballast operations, and maintain the watertight integrity
- may also be required to give assistance as required by the Chief Engineer in other areas of the Technical Department
- propose improvement suggestions and updates to Subsea Electronics Engineer for the Enterprise Asset Management System maintenance procedures
- assist with the safe operation, maintenance, testing, and fault finding of electronic systems, controls and equipment in respect of the BOP MUX systems on board the vessel in conjunction with the Subsea MUX Engineer
- ensure the stock levels are adequate for the maintenance of subsea equipment
- must be familiar with hydraulic machinery and systems under their control
- inform Senior Subsea Engineer and Subsea MUX Engineer of all matters affecting BOP MUX system reliability / availability
- assist with the correct assembly, operation, maintenance, testing and disconnection of the Subsea blowout preventer, marine riser, and related equipment on board the vessel on which they are currently working
- advise the Senior Subsea Engineer / Subsea Engineer of any impending downtime/ equipment failure
- ensure that lifting & rigging operations, supply boat and deck lifts are controlled and carried out safely
- monitoring performance of hydraulic equipment in operation on a daily basis
- be aware of Contract and Re Bills relating to Subsea Equipment
- participate in Pre-Job Safety Meetings incorporating the relevant Risk Assessment for the specific task
- be fully conversant with Level 2 procedures and ensure that Level 5 are fully updated with current work practices and are in accordance with SMS
- ensure good housekeeping in area of responsibility
- ensure all planned maintenance is up to date and signed off in accordance with the maintenance schedule for all areas of responsibility
- lift Plans, Risk Assessments and Procedures are strictly followed, complying with LOLER
- daily supervision of all hydraulic equipment power units, tank levels etc
- ensure Level 5 are fully updated with current work practices and in accordance with SMS
- attend weekly safety meetings
- ensure all modifications, breakdowns, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of subsea equipment has been entered into the Maximo system. Ensure Maximo system equipment details and maintenance procedures are relevant and up to date
- ensure all modifications, breakdowns, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Subsea MUX equipment are carried out in a timely manner and entered into the Maximo system
- calculate ton cycles for tensioner wires , implementing and recording slip and cut programme
- crane Operations are carried out within the Operational parameters
- assist with survey work as required by the Chief Engineer or delegate
- carry out other duties as requested by Senior SSE / SSE
- assist with generating the Subsea MUX engineer daily report
- participate in operational meetings
- record riser usage on each well, maintain tension record tracking spreadsheet and identify inspection requirements
- any other duties as required by Master/OIM and/or Barge Master
- advise the Chief Engineer, or delegate, of spare part requirements
- consult with the Senior Subsea Engineer / Subsea Engineer regarding the operations forecast
- consult an approved copy of the Operator’s Instructions and the Drilling Programme regarding information relative to the Subsea Department
- ensure all equipment modification work is carried out in accordance with Stena management of change procedures with assistance from the Subsea MUX Engineer
- complete a documented end-of-tour handover in line with Stena Drilling’s Handover / Reporting Procedure
- prepare BOP test reports
- ensure lifting equipment is maintained and inspected to LOLER and local standards. Ensure all lifting equipment is safe for use and colour coded. To maintain an up to date register of equipment and follow quarantine procedures

- report any faults to the Hydraulic Engineer 1
