Quantity Surveyor - Birmingham, Rail Role Working within and assisting the JSS Rail commercial & construction team to ensure the successful delivery of the Birmingham Gateway Project, which comprises of the design and construct involving the replacement of steelwork and fabric cladding at Birmingham New Street Station Atrium. This role has good potential for an advanced QS looking for the next step in their career and forms a focal part of the JSS Rail growth strategy. Key Responsibilities In conjunction with the relevant Project Management team member, be accountable for the profitability of the project, and develop and implement an appropriate commercial strategy for the project to ensure delivery of required margins Contribute to the management and maintenance of a contract cost reporting system ensuring all financial information is managed and up-to-date and tracked with budget/tender allowances, commitments and deviations highlighted and managed With other members of the team, produce and provide accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final value Monitor cash flow and valuation plan, ensuring applications are made correctly and in a timely manner Ensure contract variations are identified, valued and turned into agreed variation orders with the customer in a timely manner Assist in ensuring effective records are maintained to support claims and that applications for payment for variations are issued in a timely manner Manage the subcontract tender process, including the selection of sub-contractors and provision of all relevant contract and schedule documentation Ensure that subcontracts are placed in an appropriate manner to step down appropriate responsibilities from the Main Contract Ensure that each sub-contractors account is managed strictly in accordance with their terms and conditions Provide accurate monthly reporting of cost and value on the project(s) in line with the Company reporting proce

Role We are looking to bolster our commercial team within our UK North business unit with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Sureveyor to work on a new tender and PCSA. This role will be based in Leeds on our Sky Gardens projects, a 34 storey residential tower worth £500m.The SQS will take full commercial responsibility and ownership for the project, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships and maximising commercial returns and managing risk. The succesful candidate must have experience on high rise structures incleading RC frame, facade and internal works to handover and a minimum of 2 equivalent projects (£50m high rise) to completion in portfolio. Key Responsibilties Integrate the commercial strategy, amending with MQS to suit project as it develops. Liaise with & commercially influence/challenge the other members of the team and the construction process. Take ownership for, administer & represent the company in commercial & contractual issues, including but not limited to: Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/c & finalising s/c orders, financial & commercially manage to Final Account completion. Prepare & present forecasts, targets & CV reconciliations. Prepare & agree valuations, including generating certificates & invoice/payments.
