- experience in a supervisory role managing staff
- experience of organising resources under pressure
- food Hygiene Level 3 Certificate
- managerial: 1 year
- to devise rotas for staff
- to decide on and order the resources that are required and ensure stock levels remain adequate
- ensure that all stock is ready to be despatched and check quantities from the production log
- check that each batch is dated correctly and clearly visible on the packaging
- check packaging stock each day, inform Despatch Manager of any low stock items
- maintain a lean/clean and orderly packing area and adhere to food and health & safety standards at all times
- ideally you will have some experience within a pick and pack role
- prepare a wide variety of goods such as Bread, cakes, and dough following traditional and modern recipes
- create new and exciting baked goods and desserts to renew our products and engage the interest of customers
- decorate pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
- monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget
- check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking
- guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently
- identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
- maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
- great attention to detail and creativity
- organising and leadership skills
- willingness to enhance professional knowledge
- in-depth knowledge of hygiene and food safety rules, food preparation and baking techniques, and nutrition
- working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations
- at least 2 years experience working as a baker or pastry chef in a professional kitchen or a Level 2 NVQ or equivalent Baker or Pastry qualification
