Responsibility
develop and implement payroll strategies, policies, and procedures in compliance with UK legislation and regulatory requirements
manage the end-to-end payroll process, including data entry, calculation of wages, benefits, bonuses, and deductions, and the generation of payslips
stay updated on changes in payroll legislation, tax rates, and employment laws, and effectively communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders
lead and manage a small team of payroll professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
collaborate with other departments in the practice regarding payroll-related matters
stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in payroll management and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
ensure timely submission of payroll to relevant authorities, such as HM Revenue and Customs , pension providers, and other relevant third parties
meeting deadlines and liaising with clients, colleagues and third parties
Requirements
professional certifications such as Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals are desirable
proven experience in a senior payroll role, preferably within a UK accountancy firm
thorough understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment laws, including Real-Time Information , auto-enrolment, and PAYE
proficient in using payroll software and familiarity with payroll systems and related technologies
strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
excellent organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines
proven leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and develop a small team

Requirements
CTA qualification or qualified by experience
qualified ACA or ACCA
you should hold the CTA qualification . ICAEW, ACCA and or STEP qualifications would be beneficial
