Responsibility

  • you will manage the Intake of cats and dogs to the charity and oversee their subsequent rehoming
  • you will be expected to demonstrate evidence-based decision-making and to undertake appropriate CPD to maintain up-to-date knowledge
  • the primary purpose of this role is to provide supervision and leadership to the Small Animal Team and ensure that the welfare of the animals in their care is maintained to a high standard
  • the role is a hands-on role and will work closely with our veterinary partners to ensure that care and treatment reflects industry best-practice
  • reporting directly to the Head of Animal Welfare you will be responsible for your department’s budget, reporting and staff appraisals and record keeping
  • you must be committed to maximizing the effectiveness and reputation of the Charity through highly professional standards of conduct, team-working and customer service at all times and be proactively supportive of colleagues and inter-departmental working
  • you will contribute proactively to the development and improvement of policies, practices, methods and standards at the Charity
  • as part of the role the post holder will also be involved in the rehoming process, caseworking animals as part of the team

Requirements

  • animal care/management qualification or significant, demonstrable experience of welfare management
  • proven background in leading a successful team
  • non-judgemental approach and excellent customer service skills
  • experience of working with nervous/shutdown/aggressive animals
  • experience and confidence in handling strong and large dogs
  • confident and competent in medicating cats and dogs
