Responsibility

  • we’re looking to recruit a part-time Events and Special Projects Manager to help plan and run an exciting range of internal and external events for students, staff, and members of the public
  • this role will see you potentially travelling to all National Star sites, including those in Hereford and Wales
  • reporting to the Head of Social Enterprise & Events, you will work closely with colleagues across various departments, including fundraising, HR, StarBistro and marketing, to plan and deliver events throughout the year
  • you’ll need a good understanding of event management and first-class organisational skills. It will be your responsibility to keep events on track and on budget, so experience of managing finances associated with events would be useful
  • therefore, a full driving licence is essential
  • this is an exciting role with a huge level of job satisfaction
  • the role will involve you liaising with a broad range of people, so be prepared to use your negotiation skills, tact, and diplomacy as part of this role
  • irrespective of whether you are organising events for internal or external audiences, we expect you to be customer-focussed, adding creative value to the event management process

  • students at National Star love swimming – it is a fantastic way for them to maintain their fitness, strength and mobility
  • we are recruiting a lifeguard to provide a safe environment for students and to support the swimming and sport team to deliver outstanding, enjoyable and inclusive lessons
  • A current first aid qualification is preferred and you should have some previous experience of young people and adults with physical disabilities and / or learning difficulties
  • play your part in helping them achieve their goal by applying for our lifeguard role today
  • lifeguarding and/or working in swimming classes with children with a current NPLQ is desirable but we can provide training to obtain this for the right applicant
  • you’ll need good organisation skills, attention to detail and be able to work under pressure. You’ll also be expected to communicate directly with learners to support their learning and safety
  • based at our Ullenwood campus, the hours for this post are up to 37 hours Monday to Friday during term time with the possibility of additional weekend evening / weekend / holidays work as the need arises
  • although we prefer someone who can offer us 37 hours a week, we may consider job shares and part-time hours – please let us know when applying if that is something you are interested in
