Responsibility
- we have 2 new opportunities as Site Supervisor who will be based at our new RFPF Site in Edmonton, North London
- managing absence, time keeping, behavioural and performance reviews for your direct reports
- to supervising all operators and ensuring that they work effectively and safely in accordance with Company policies and procedures

- as Site Supervisor, your role will be to control the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and people across the site as well as controlling the efficient storage of waste within the bays and the supervision of static and mobile plants
- supervising the safe operations of operatives/MPO’s while using static and mobile plant
- to control all areas of site operation in accordance with contractual requirements and take remedial action as appropriate
- to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all vehicles and mobile plant whilst on site
- controlling the movement of waste and other vehicles from their passing over the in-weighbridge to their passing over the out-weighbridge
- to organise and utilise available vehicles and plant to fulfil the needs of the operation in a cost-effective manner
- covering the RRC Area Supervisor duties as and when required
- to maintain and operate all other company internal electronic systems, including the Winweigh system
- controlling the suppression of dust on site by the appropriate operation within the Tipping Apron activities and its control systems
- to ensure the Kings Road RRC operations are compliant with the respective site Waste Management Permits and conditions and ensure all non-compliance issues are dealt with as per Company practice and legislation

- monitoring the waste tonnage in bays utilising the LEL D365 and Win weigh system and associated support systems
- to ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained and team understand their rota week on week including standby weeks
- to assist the RRC Manager and RRC Area Supervisors in managing the operations of the RRC site in order that they operate efficiently
- ensuring that all personal protection equipment or work wear is worn correctly by persons under the jobholder’s supervision and maintained for its effectiveness
- tracking and monitoring all vehicle and people movements using CCTV
- to ensure all staff operate in a safe and effective manner including identifying and implementing training requirements
- supervising all site staff within their designated area of operation and such other areas as directed by Site Manager or Site Supervisor
- supervising the operation of static and mobile plant to load bulk waste vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- controlling traffic movements within the tipping aprons
- containing and disposing of any spillages within the operational building and keep the tipping apron areas free of litter
- keep you to date the site training matrix including arranging training as required for all staff
- ensuring the RRC operations are compliant with the respective site Waste Management Permits and conditions and ensure all non-compliance issues are dealt with as per Company practice and legislation
- ensuring compliance with the Company’s ‘permit to work’ and ‘tag out’ procedures whilst maintenance work is carried out in the RFPF
- to assist in ensuring that all issues relating to the Environment Agency including waste tonnage returns are dealt with appropriately and recorded as required- this includes maintaining the site diary
- ensure the site operates in a safe and effective manner and that all company policies and procedures are adhered to and up to date at all times
- to ensure that all site office requirements are compiled to including, shift working rota/pattern, employee timecards and clock system, absence RTW interviews all in accordance with company policies and procedures
- to assist Site Manager is resolving any employee relations issues at earliest opportunity and provide motivation and leadership to all site personnel
- ensuring effective control of all bulk vehicles when moving in the building
- to ensure that all static and mobile plant is maintained on a regular basis as per manufacturers’ guidelines or as company procedure demand requires. This includes monitoring daily operator inspection reporting and defect reporting
- to ensure the completion of all operational reports on time and accurately
- to ensure that all staff operate in a safe and effective manner as per Company Policies and for all employees and visitors to comply with Company Policies and procedures including Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
- monitoring all waste movements and activities on-site including ensuring no vehicle go out over-weight and waste inspections are completed thoroughly
- supervising all traffic management and related systems and procedures to ensure compliance and effective operation
- ensuring all vehicles leaving the site are not overloaded and supervising the removal of excess tonnage as required
- to carry out regular reviews of all relevant site safe systems of work on a regular basis or as and when demand requires and to implement and communicate changes as appropriate
- to ensure that all site users traverse the site efficiently and in a safe controlled manner in line with Operational Safety Guidance and company policy
- to assist the H/S Site Manager in managing and controlling expenditure
- ensuring all waste arriving to and leaving site has all legally required documents and any that remain on site are filed in an appropriate manner
Requirements
- previous experience of waste disposal facilities
- previous experience of working in a Waste Operations environment
- experience operating mobile plant, loading shovels & 360 material handler

- it is desirable that you hold WAMITAB suitable for running a waste transfer station and have a NEBOSH qualification
- previous experience of managing a team
- current driving licence and willing to drive the company reuse van if required
- you must have proven experience of successfully managing a shiftwork operation
- hold the required competency certificate for operating mobile plant or be willing to train to do so
- ideally you will hold a competency certificate for operating mobile plant or be willing to train to do so
- have the ability to work on your own initiative, demonstrate effective organisational skills and have strong interpersonal skills
- COTC
- strong people management skills is essential
- to have the ability to work in a pressurised environment
- NEBOSH or iOSH Managing Health & Safety at Work
- previous supervisory, coaching and mentoring experience is essential as you will manage a team
- to have a full UK clean driving licence
- IT skills and a competent user of Microsoft packages is required

- you must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop others
- health and Safety knowledge is essential
- A full driving licence would be preferred as you may need to drive the company reuse van if required
