practice manager

Responsibility

  • the main duties of this role will be to manage, control and keep a handle on the shopfloor staff
  • as a Practice Manager you will oversee the team whilst working to store targets, providing training and leading from the front
  • you will make sure the shopfloor team are seeing to patients, answering phones and completing their daily duties
  • A strong optical knowledge is also required as you will be dispensing and leading from the front, setting a good example
  • this includes training & development, identifying areas of improvement; creating individual plans and targets as well as implementing these to overcome such areas
  • as well as primarily being a Practice Manager you will also be responsible to work as one of the lead dispensers within the practice
  • you will handle the majority of dispensing, and you will use your expertise and clinical experience to troubleshoot and deal with any issues as they arise
  • as a senior member of the team, you will help junior members of the team and help them to stay up to date with the latest optical developments

Requirements

  • to apply for this position, you will need to have previous management experience within an opticians
  • ideally a fully qualified Dispensing Optician, however this is not essential
  • the ideal person will have previous performance management and has had experience in 1 to 1’s and managing KPI’s
  • you will ideally have previous management experience and will need a minimum of 2 years’ experience in optics ideally as Assistant Manager/ Practice Manager level
  • you will be a confident leader and be able to delegate, train staff and be on hand to keep control of the shopfloor
  • you will be able to think of new ideas, outside of the box and be able to implement them into a business
  • you will be a friendly, yet professional person who is able to work with and lead a team, whilst also create relationships and be on your team’s level
