- prepare and review contracts, including cost estimates, quantities, and project specifications
- the project will be for an Quantity Surveyor
- compile estimates of quantities of materials, labour, and equipment needed for construction projects
- measurement, pricing and evaluation of tenders
- conduct quantity take-offs and prepare bills of quantities
- conduct on-site visits to assess project progress and ensure compliance with contract terms
- identify any potential issues and make recommendations for improvements in the estimate
- take responsibility of projects from inception to completion
- analyze project specifications and drawings to determine project requirements
- collaborate with project managers and construction teams to provide cost advice and value engineering solutions
- inform the client about potential issues that could delay completion of the project
- identify areas to improve margin
- collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate cost control and budget management
- analyze and evaluate project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment
- check for possible infractions of building codes or local ordinances

- monitor project costs and provide regular reports on cost variances
- prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for bidding purposes

- due to the nature of the works, this clients QS's aren't required to be on-site as often as most QS's so it's a good opportunity if you're looking for an office based role
- CVR reporting and forecasting
- review contractor invoices and change orders for accuracy and compliance with contract terms
- review and negotiate change orders and claims
- management and administration of sub-contractor accounts
- participate in project meetings to provide cost-related insights and recommendations
- conduct cost audits and risk assessments to identify potential cost-saving opportunities
- producing and submitting applications for payment
- stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying
Requirements
- bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
- strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costs

- previous experience of construction/retrofit or fabric upgrades are preferred however not essential

- effective communication and negotiation skills
- previous experience of working with bill of quants, schedules of rates, design and build contracts etc
- strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams
- ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors
- ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting
- knowledge of relevant construction regulations, codes, and standards
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
