• fixed-term contract for maternity cover. 16 hours per week, worked over 2 days. We can be flexible over the days of the week worked with some weekend working required
• you will work closely with the Senior Gardener to ensure the Walled Garden and its associated gardens and features, including the kitchen garden, orchard, frame yard, Bothy, rose garden and lawns are presented to a high standard and maintained in a safe, clean and tidy condition
• ensure that all machinery and equipment are used correctly and maintained in good condition; carry out safety checks and report defects
• participate in the process of staff training and development
• deputise for the Head of Grounds & Gardens and the Grounds Supervisor as required
• the Senior Gardener is responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordinating of all garden maintenance work and horticultural programs across the Terrace Gardens and the Walled Garden, ensuring that Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times
• undertake in a hands-on capacity a comprehensive range of horticultural tasks and processes to a high standard under the general direction of the Head of Gardens & Grounds
• assist the Head of Gardens & Grounds in planning and implementing work programs for ornamental and productive horticulture across all garden areas
• work closely with the Head of Gardens & Grounds and take responsibility for all day-to-day work in the Terrace Gardens and Walled Garden
