- you will be caring for some of our greatest assets – our track, bridges, signalling and buildings, ensuring that they are safe, secure, and preserved for the next generations
- infrastructure Maintenance and Restoration - Oversee the maintenance and restoration of all railway infrastructure, including permanent way, drainage, bridges and other structures, embankments and cuttings, fencing and security, signal and telecommunications

- largely run by volunteers, operating the only double track main line steam railway in the country, we exist to educate, entertain and to add value to the communities we are part of
- the successful candidate will have good experience of managing infrastructure, either as an engineer in a relevant discipline, or in project management

Requirements
- extensive experience of the management of infrastructure or construction
- experience of managing infrastructure or capital projects in the rail industry
- strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver them on time and within budget

- experience of managing and championing change, persuading, and influencing key players
- chartered Engineer in a relevant discipline
- strong leadership and team management skills
- A recognised project management qualification
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- A familiarity and experience of the rail Risk Management Maturity Model
- experience of devising and implementing new processes/initiatives and of managing projects
- business and financial management skills
- A clear understanding of customer focus, experience of the delivery of a business-facing service and the regular monitoring of performance standards
- experience of working with a largely volunteer workforce
- familiar with the principles of ISO9001 in a process driven environment
- computer literate
- passion for heritage railways and an understanding of the importance of preserving this unique part of our cultural heritage and history
- the ability to work evenings and weekends from time to time is essential, including participation in an Executive Manager on-call roster
- an ability to work under pressure and to manage conflicting demands
- A pro-active, participative, and flexible approach to problem solving, taking the initiative by evaluating, making suggestions and generating new ideas to improve working methods and levels of performance
