- deliver the planned daily timetable across your designated service group
- respond immediately to real time disruptive events on GTR trains, stations and Network Rail infrastructure in association with our partners
- can you implement customer service standards that change the culture and raise the professionalism of drivers across GTR
- work closely with our engineering department to ensure the fleet of trains is maintained
- develop a first-class customer service environment that delivers excellent service to our customers
- prepare real time summaries and reports around daily performance and service preparedness for Senior Managers
- work closely with our operations department to ensure best use is made of available traincrew
- this is a shift position Early/Late/Nights
- are you able to lead and manage a designated group of drivers to deliver a high performing workforce in line with GTRs specific standards in safety, performance, and customer service expectations
- enhance the on-board experience for our customers, resulting in repeat business and provision of higher satisfaction results
- work under the guidance and instruction from the Duty Network Operations Manager on duty as required
- work closely with all stakeholders to ensure our customers receive the best possible experience

- about You

- strong people leadership skills
- responsible for providing a small team with leadership, motivation and operation advice, ensuring they work together safely and effectively to the required standards and specifications
- monitor on the day train service at key defined stations on the GTR network and record incidents and occurrences in our logging system
- report delays to the relevant Train Service Managers and advise of likely impact to train services so that the Train Service Managers can take action to reduce the impact
- we expect you to have first-rate people skills in this safety critical environment. Excellent interpersonal communication with an innate ability to build constructive relationships with people of all levels
- strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire teams
- previous experience or a good understanding of operational safety standards and procedures will be required, which you can demonstrate through your experience in the railway, or an equal industry, and its operations
- log on the relevant systems instances of delays at stations, allowing stakeholders to view delay narratives and the actions taken to mitigate
- developing and maintaining a professional relationship with Trade Union Representatives
- drive team performance through excellent engagement and utilise the attendance procedure, improving performance, individual grievance, and the disciplinary procedures as appropriate to ensure fair treatment and improved performance

- ensure that there is sufficient Train Crew available to provide the day-to-day services according to the daily plan in order to cause minimal delays to train services
- whilst performing in this role, successful candidates will be trained as Train Service Managers and must understand that this is a requirement for application, all candidates would be invited to complete an initial online assessment, and those selected will be invited to a further in person assessment day and formal interview to the standard of a Train Service Manager
- provide reports as directed by the Materials Manager/Fleet Materials Manager
- note that both roles are shift working variously on early, late and night shifts including weekends and bank holidays

- deliver a safe and reliable train service in ensuring that train dispatch related incidents and delays are kept to a minimum, as well as working on performance Visualisation Boards and improvement plans

- able to investigate delays and incidents with the objective of identifying immediate, basic and underlying causes, and able to make meaningful recommendations to prevent re-occurrence

- assist Driver Resource Managers to ensure that you comply with ‘Hidden' excess working hours is maintained, and that if any breaches do occur these are properly investigated
