Responsibility
- designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods
- carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work and responding to equipment faults
- diagnosing breakdown problems

- carrying out quality inspections on jobs
- liaising with client departments, customers and other engineering and production colleagues
- arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components
- controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
- improving health and safety policies and procedures
- working with specialist equipment, such as programmable logic controllers , which control machinery on our production lines
- ensuring there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdown
- to take reasonable care of your own health and safety
- these roles and responsibilities will change from time to time and the post holder is required to undertake any additional duties as deemed appropriate
- staff are required to participate in training, workshops and meetings considered relevant to their job
- staff must carry out their duties with full regard to the rules, policies and procedures and conditions of service contained in their employment contracts and staff handbook
- maintenance engineers are also involved in control and monitoring devices and occasionally in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance
Requirements
- NVQ, C&G or BTEC level 3 a s a minimum in mechanical or electrical engineering
- 18th edition Health & Safety
- the capacity to understand a range of engineering functions and procedures
