Responsibility
- you will be responsible for preparing, splicing, and installing small, medium, and large cable joints either underground or overhead
- maintain all accurate records, data and provide daily progress reports
- perform acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meters
- the role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full Fibre design from an implementation perspective
- you will collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers
- you will be responsible for performing underground and overhead cabling, including rod and rope, small run cable pulling. Additionally, you will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on fibre optic networks
- give practical demos to new recruits to help them learn the right way
- adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality, Company, and Environmental policies
Requirements
- has working knowledge of PIA rules of the BT Network and should be efficient in following these rules
- fibre splicing experience in BT Openreach ducts, especially with fibre optics cable
- ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions
- ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, and engineering drawings
- ability to lift and carry and endure the physical constraints of the job
- the ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 4 years of fibre experience with Openreach, Virgin Media, or other fibre network infrastructure building companies in the UK
- understand the value of doing it correctly the first time and believes in delivering quality service
