Responsibility
you will be responsible for preparing, splicing, and installing small, medium, and large cable joints either underground or overhead
maintain all accurate records, data and provide daily progress reports
perform acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meters
the role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full Fibre design from an implementation perspective
you will collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers
you will be responsible for performing underground and overhead cabling, including rod and rope, small run cable pulling. Additionally, you will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on fibre optic networks
give practical demos to new recruits to help them learn the right way
adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality, Company, and Environmental policies
Requirements
has working knowledge of PIA rules of the BT Network and should be efficient in following these rules
fibre splicing experience in BT Openreach ducts, especially with fibre optics cable
ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions
ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, and engineering drawings
ability to lift and carry and endure the physical constraints of the job
the ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 4 years of fibre experience with Openreach, Virgin Media, or other fibre network infrastructure building companies in the UK
understand the value of doing it correctly the first time and believes in delivering quality service
