Responsibility

  • you will be responsible for preparing, splicing, and installing small, medium, and large cable joints either underground or overhead
  • maintain all accurate records, data and provide daily progress reports
  • perform acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meters
  • the role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full Fibre design from an implementation perspective
  • you will collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers
  • you will be responsible for performing underground and overhead cabling, including rod and rope, small run cable pulling. Additionally, you will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on fibre optic networks
  • give practical demos to new recruits to help them learn the right way
  • adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality, Company, and Environmental policies

Requirements

  • has working knowledge of PIA rules of the BT Network and should be efficient in following these rules
  • fibre splicing experience in BT Openreach ducts, especially with fibre optics cable
  • ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions
  • ability to read and interpret schematics, maps, and engineering drawings
  • ability to lift and carry and endure the physical constraints of the job
  • the ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 4 years of fibre experience with Openreach, Virgin Media, or other fibre network infrastructure building companies in the UK
  • understand the value of doing it correctly the first time and believes in delivering quality service

Responsibility

  • splicing of optic fibre cabling
  • complete Intrusive surveys on the underground and overhead network to locate blockages and establish clear cable routes
  • assess CBT locations to minimise overhead road crossings
  • provide detailed daily project reports to Supervisor
  • install sub-duct and blow fibre cable on spine routes
  • splice and test external fibre cable
  • you will be employed to liase with customers to ensure an indepth installation survey is completed and reported to the office using software provided by us on ipads
  • implement work pack instructions and inform if any issues to your Supervisor

Requirements

  • full valid driving licence no more than 6 points
  • SA001 and SA002
  • NRSWA Accredited Unit 2
  • min 1 year fibre installation experience
  • team Player
  • fibre splicing: 1 year
