health and safety manager

Responsibility

  • manage all health and safety related issues within the Fothergill Group
  • maintain training records and draw up training plans for all departmental resource
  • document and circulate a monthly health and safety report for review/discussion at the monthly management meeting
  • control and manage department budget spend
  • to manage and log on a monthly basis, all accidents/incidents/near-misses across the Group and progress actions resulting as a consequence
  • effective internal communication in all health and safety issues, keeping site managers and production leaders aware in a prompt and timely manner
  • to ensure the entire Group activities work safely within the company’s Health and Safety Procedures, including the correct PPE and suitable equipment for the areas of work. Ensure a positive and pro-active health & safety culture is maintained
  • to chair all monthly health & safety meetings across the Group and to record such meetings and take/manage actions on the findings raised

Requirements

  • to have a flexible approach towards overtime and ‘out of hours’ working
  • to work as part of a team to optimise company performance and achieve targets
  • to co-operate with the organisation in respect of training needs and job development to meet production demands
  • previous experience of weaving, rubber production and fabric coating machines preferable
  • full driving licence and use of a car for occasional travel between locations
  • applicants will be working as part of our Group Engineering across sites throughout Oldham, and the Rochdale area

Responsibility

  • to act as a first point of contact dealing with correspondence and phone calls
  • plan and organise travel and accommodation when required
  • maintain effective filling and data storage including emails and retrieval systems ensuring the needs of the Chief executive are met
  • to service meetings of the Senior Management Team by preparing agendas, taking minutes and following up on actions points
  • provide reports for senior management as required
  • to proactively manage and coordinate the diary of the Chief Executive by prioritising and arranging internal and external meetings, ensuring appropriate briefing papers are prepared and provided
  • undertake any other appropriate duties as required to support the Chief Executive to enable them to fulfil their role
  • carry out all duties with complete discretion and a high regard for confidentiality
