Working hours

Responsibility

  • we have an opening in our Transport Department for a Transport Planner for a full time position
  • carefully secure and plan reloads on the rigid & artic vehicles
  • stay in regular contact with the drivers and pass on any delays etc to the account managers
  • ensure that the vehicles are run as efficiently as possible and are generating the correct revenue in relation to their budget
  • analyse the vehicle costs on a weekly basis and pinpoint any inefficiencies and report them
  • plan the daily work for up to 20 rigid vehicles while assisting with solutions for the artic fleet. The work is dedicated loads & some multi-drop, general haulage
  • working with the Transport Manager to help plan the servicing & mot's of the fleet, as well as enforcing drivers hours and assisting with other related tasks

  • 2 years of transport planning
  • driving Licence
  • CPC Holder
  • familiarity with the Mandata system

  • identifying and addressing vehicle defects to a high standard and in accordance with company procedures

  • GCSE or equivalent

Requirements

  • proven experience in logistics, transport planning, or subcontracting, preferably within the freight industry
  • excellent negotiation and communication skills to manage relationships with subcontractors and customers
  • strong knowledge of the UK transport market and subcontractor networks
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills for cost optimization and issue resolution
  • proficient in using logistics software and systems for planning and reporting
  • logistics: 3 years

Responsibility

  • act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • monitor the progress of loads, addressing any delays or issues promptly
  • allocate loads to subcontractors while ensuring adherence to company policies, service standards, and cost targets
  • maintain accurate records of loads, subcontractor activities, and reloads
