Requirements

  • an engineering degree which includes an element of fluid dynamics
  • minimum 2 years’ experience working as an engineer, including the use of CFD for the purposes of fire safety/smoke ventilation
  • experience in the construction industry or design of buildings with respect to fire

Responsibility

  • production of fee proposals, fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation as and when required
  • reviewing architectural drawings to determine potential fire strategy approval risks and opportunities to add value

  • solve, with support, fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control and occupant evacuations

  • IFE Membership

  • A thorough understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991
  • A self-starter who is driven by results
  • working knowledge of regulatory controls and a proven ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment

  • minimum 2-3 years’ experience working as a Fire Safety Surveyor
  • hold a level 3 fire risk assessor qualification
  • must have a valid driving licence and willing to travel
