pharmacy technician
Responsibility
to update and maintain accurate patient medication records on the practice clinical computer system, including advice given and action taken
to assist the Pharmacist with data analysis of prescribing behaviour in line with NICE guidance and local clinical commissioning directives
to adhere to strict confidentiality policies at all times
attend local meetings seeking to improve access to medicines or repeat prescribing processes
support the PCN multi-disciplinary team to ensure efficient medicines optimization processes are being followed
implement efficient ordering and return processes and reducing medication wastage
support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings
all Pharmacy Technicians must work within their competencies, and have professional indemnity for their role

deal with incoming queries and calls directly from patients
assist with signposting patients to appropriate community or local services, alongside social prescribers
divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery
act on communications from hospitals or community providers
book follow up appointments, tests or other reviews
are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen
pro-actively ensure patients are booked in for chronic disease management appointments
ensure records are kept in good repair, with all necessary information on the outside cover clearly visible
