- across the properties in your care you will take a lead role in implementing English Heritage's Sustainability Strategy

- reducing our carbon footprint is a corporate objective and you will work with colleagues to identify and implement energy reduction measures

- ultimately you will lead the development and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems on a portfolio of sites
- one of the most atmospheric castles in England, Dunstanburgh Castle played a role as a stronghold in the Wars of the Roses, but fell into disrepair at the end of the Middle Ages

- you'll be optimising every opportunity to generate income, achieving all site performance targets, including memberships and retail, through target setting, training and coaching your team in active selling
- no two days are the same, so be prepared to work in a dynamic and challenging environment with some of the best views in the country
- based at Dover Castle, you will work with key members of the site team and HR & Volunteering team to design and implement new offers in volunteering opportunity, with a view to diversifying the programme and ensuring it accounts for current sector trends, the needs of the local community as well as the needs of the site
- you will have the necessary professional construction expertise to develop and deliver conservation maintenance and enhancement projects to the highest standards and in accordance with established technical policy, industry standards and specialist guidance
- you'll also be involved in engaging the local community with what's happening on site as well as ensuring that the site itself and its assets are safe and secure
- we are looking for someone to provide strategic leadership and specialist advice to oversee a national fire safety framework - including Fire Risk Assessments, policies, training and exercises
- strategically the events program is a core element in the delivery of our consumer brand positioning of "Bringing History to Life" and the engagement of new audiences
- you will do this by in partnership with site teams and through effectively leading on the management of contractors to carry out planned maintenance and reactive repairs
- you will oversee a programme of Fire Risk Assessments, completing the more complex ones yourself, and manage an action tracker - supporting colleagues with prioritisation and advice
- the Events Department is responsible for the product development, creative content and commercial success of the annual program, as well as ensuring that events are health and safety compliant and are appropriate for, and sensitive to, the historic locations in which they take place

- working with the Estate and Senior Estate Managers you will contribute to the ongoing review of and lead on the implementation of the Building Services Asset Management Plan for your area ensuring that condition is monitored and contributing to replacing infrastructure at end of life
- as Building Services Manager, you will work across a range of properties from country houses, castles, ruins and modern visitor centers
- your problem solving ability will stand you in good stead with the challenges managing fire safety in the historic built environment brings
- you'll also be involved in engaging the local community with what's happening on site as well as ensuring that the site and its assets are safe and secure

- we are looking for someone who can bring their experience of providing excellent customer service and strong staff supervisory skills as well as being able to work independently
