Responsibility
- effective leadership, motivation and line management of the prison education team

- be the single point of contact and main liaison between the employer, the apprentice and the college

- organise and supervise surveys and enabling works
- effectively managing the budget for resourcing courses and working with the Lot Manager to monitor this
- successful delivery of the contracted and funded curriculum through regular monitoring, promoting and exceptional deployment of resources
- complete apprentice reviews in a timely manner and ensure feedback and actions are communicated and completed to all relevant parties
- input into the strategic development of the estate
- foster strong relationships with key departments, securing design input and resources where appropriate
- ensuring appropriate recruitment, scheduling and utilisation of staff whilst assuring the quality of their work
- input into and operate in accordance with the department standards, policies and procedures
- arrange pre-start meetings with contractors and co-ordinate site activities with on-going operations
- provide close support and guidance to existing and new employers in relation to apprenticeship framework information and guidance
- assist the Director of Estates/Chief Financial Officer in the preparation of papers for the Finance Committee and other meetings as required
- monitor and report progress to the Director of Estates throughout the duration of the project, including contractor progress on site
- manage project costs within limits delegated by the Chief Financial Officer/Director of Estates
- identifying and implementing staff development needs through a culture of continued professional development
- review project designs in relation to the brief standards and provide feedback to external consultants and attend design team meetings as required
- prepare information in support of any capital returns to external and internal stakeholders
- successfully contributing to the future planning of the curriculum and working in partnership with the prison to ensure a fully appropriate and deliverable curriculum for the prison that meets local, regional and national employer needs
