  • continual review and planning level of people-resource, responding appropriately when level of staffing is reduced
  • recruitment and induction of new colleagues including initial reviewing candidates, contacting, interviewing and onboarding
  • considering and proposing recommendations for improvements in efficiency, cost per meal, meal uptake, wastage and other metrics
  • supporting our Head of Kitchens and wider teams performance to the required standard in the areas of food production, energy consumption, portion and wastage control
  • demonstrating and leading positive team relations, endeavour to engage teams and minimise staff turnover
  • monitoring kitchen records to ensure all locations complete data using the technology provided e.g. temperature checks, cleaning routine, timesheets, meal numbers
  • showing a willingness to support and develop teams and identify high performing staff creating talent pipeline
  • constantly seeking and implementing ways of improving the quality and cost effectiveness of the service by keeping abreast of developments in food service and production and customer needs and tastes

Requirements

  • thorough understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety in a Catering environment
  • due to the nature of this role, you'll need to hold a driving license with access to your own vehicle
  • IT literate
  • the ability to lead, motivate and manage colleagues well
  • experience of training senior staff in kitchen teams
  • A knowledge of common food allergens and special diets
  • effective communication with a wide range of people and great customer service skills
  • A knowledge of food safety/kitchen hygiene and HACCP. An NVQ/Level 3 qualification in Food Safety Hygiene would be advantageous

Responsibility

  • these units are run through the Housing with Care Scheme for people aged 55 and over
  • assist in the preparation, cooking and service of food as directed to the specifications defined by City Catering Southampton
  • ensure any transported meals are prepared, cooked and packaged to maximise quality
  • assist in the planning, preparation, cooking and service of food for special functions, emergency catering and theme days
  • implement our special diet and allergen menus and procedures where appropriate
  • you will have one weekend off in 3, and the role is for 30 hours per week

  • work with the CEO and the Trustees to establish the fundamentals of a robust fundraising strategy that supports the Charity’s strategy
  • actively research new funding opportunities and prospects
  • write effective fundraising applications and reports to enhance our charitable impact growth
  • create fundable deliverable propositions and identify relevant funders, identifying additional areas of fundraising for the Charity to explore
  • prospect research, pipeline review and prioritisation
  • build on existing fundraising activity, developing new and imaginative fundraising activities – in liaison with marketing colleagues
