Responsibility

  • leading and managing all activities in the Saturday Kitchen
  • this includes volunteer recruitment, attendance and role allocation, all preparatory work, menu planning, and sourcing ingredients
  • to direct and coordinate the contribution of volunteers and arrange recruitment, induction, training and ongoing support as required
  • to manage volunteers including establishing attendance, motivation and standards of behaviour
  • to ensure compliance with health and safety and food hygiene standards and regulations
  • to meet with volunteers regularly to ensure that they are effectively supported and that any needs are addressed
  • to ensure that all prepared food is of a high standard
  • be the first point of contact for service users, liaising with other professionals and partner agencies as appropriate

Requirements

  • good literacy and numeracy skills
  • knowledge and experience of meal preparation
  • good people management skills
  • ability to empathise and present a non-judgmental approach
  • ability to manage within a budget
  • hold/working towards/undertake study to achieve the Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate
