Responsibility

  • crop, grassland & Soil Management
  • oversee the cultivation, planting, and harvesting of organic crops
  • manage soil health through organic methods, such as composting, crop rotation, and cover cropping
  • implement organic pest control practices
  • ensure water management systems are effective and sustainable
  • maintain records of soil treatments, crop rotation schedules, and harvest timelines to ensure compliance with organic standards
  • maintain, upkeep and repair farming machinery to a high standard
  • organic/ Bio-dynamic Farmer (ideally Job Share with Split Responsibility or be in an Assistant role to the farm coordinator/ Herd Manager and build up on their farming experience to step into a leadership position

Requirements

  • experience in organic farming, sustainable agriculture, or a related field
  • certification in Organic Agriculture, Horticulture, or Sustainable Farming
  • knowledge of organic certification processes, crop management, and/or livestock care
  • experience in farm marketing, including CSA, direct sales, and promoting organic products
  • strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage split responsibilities effectively
  • understanding of permaculture principles or regenerative agriculture practices
  • excellent communication skills for coordinating with job-share partners, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • work within the ethos and values of the organisation
