technician
Responsibility
- supporting the Screening and Analytical Chemistry teams in the extraction of microbial samples
- supporting the microbial generation team in isolation of novel species of microbes
- supporting compound separation by HPLC
- maintenance of our microbial library, including using various methods to stock our strains
- LCMS sample preparation and data collection
- maintenance of the pipeline for microbial isolation
- meticulous data recording, sample tracking and upload
- passaging samples for isolation of microbial species
Requirements
- A Master’s degree or above in life sciences, or a BSc in life sciences plus equivalent experience
- experience working with sterile technique including handling of agar plates and liquid culture
- A Master’s degree or above in chemistry
- experience with working with bacteria
- experience preparing extracts from biological samples
- experience with chromatography methods, including HPLC and LCMS
- interest in biotechnology and enthusiasm for scientific discovery
- ability to work independently as well as within a team
