Responsibility

  • you will liaise with other Design Engineers here at AMD to discuss design requirements for each project, as well as in-house fabricators/welders during production and Production Operatives to ensure all designs are fully manufacturable by providing accurate, clear and concise CAD data to an agreed assembly structure and you will provide technical support to colleagues within other functions
  • liaising with the client throughout the project is required, including on site visits, to ensure their expectations are managed and met and to react to customer issues and provide ongoing design modifications and support
  • degree qualified and the ability to work within strict timeframes, the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and flexible, self-managed, motivated and hard working
  • experience of working with design and detailing of platforms/walkways including building steelwork and staircases, ductwork, fully welded construction and support brackets, structural steelwork and supports
  • experience in a design environment in architecture, building, construction, or engineering services is preferable with a good working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and or 3D solid works, and of fabrication/welding and general manufacturing techniques
  • the position requires that you are able to work accurately and efficiently with attention to detail and to have excellent communication skills to allow you to liaise with other departments in a concise and efficient manner
  • working within the Technical Design Team on site , you will be a 10 year+ experienced Design Engineer, required to lead a project from conception to installation, manage multiple projects/contracts, produce high quality 2D and 3D drawings to allow accurate fabrication and production of component parts, use Engineering Calculations, principles, tools, and software to overcome design and build issues

  • to undertake all types of fabrication / welding
  • competent in the use of measuring equipment, fabrication equipment including guillotine, break press, rollers etc
  • to work on own initiative
  • ensuring that everything meets the required specifications
  • ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with HSE guidelines
  • understand and follow basic CAD drawings
  • ensuring your workspace and the workshop is organised, clean and tidy
