Responsibility
- maintain and enhance an internally supported Linux distribution, including core OS components, packaging, configuration, and tooling
- design, build, and maintain custom installation ISOs for controlled and offline deployment environments
- operate and refine fully offline patching, update, and release processes
- manage internal RPM repositories, ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliable distribution of updates
- implement improvements across the OS stack
- conduct deep technical investigation of system-level issues in development, engineering and customer systems
- provide advanced support for customer deployments, including diagnostics, performance tuning, and issue reproduction in isolated environments
- develop and maintain automation for OS builds, testing, and release procedures
Requirements
- extensive experience administering and engineering in Linux environments
- strong RPM packaging competence, including building, modifying, and debugging packages
- experience creating custom installation media using tooling such as Kickstart, installer frameworks, and image-generation pipelines
- proven ability to manage yum/dnf repositories, including metadata generation and offline sync processes
- strong scripting ability
- source control proficiency
- strong troubleshooting skills for offline and constrained on-premise systems
- solid understanding of Linux internals: systemd, storage, networking, bootloaders, SELinux, kernel modules, and logging
