Responsibility

- to support the Home Manager across all aspects of Home Management, providing a safe, caring, stimulating and Homely environment for residents and their visitors
- undertake nursing tasks including but not limited to, distribution of medication, dressings, catheterisation, tube feeding and management of chronic medical conditions
- supervises care staff in the delivery of high standards of care/treatment to achieve planned goals
- the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of care and for the supervision of others who are carrying out all aspects of the caring process
- provide staff support, demonstration and instruction of care activities, particularly in relation to the induction and mentoring of new staff
- our Nursing team assist in setting and maintaining standards of care and will participate in maintaining effective management of the team and Home and working alongside Care Assistant
- participates in care staff supervisions and reviews and assists with the induction and orientation of new care staff
- act always in line with NMC Code of Professional Conduct & maintain registration requirements
- to act as person in charge, to stand in for the Manager as required and observe all instructions to act upon his/her behalf, ensuring high standards of care to residents in line with company policy & Registration
- maintains the safe custody, administration, dispensing and storage of medication according to the NMC administration of medication
- develop and maintain positive working relationships with all residents, families, visitors and colleagues
- participates in clinical / quality / continuous improvement processes
- maintaining high standards of care by undertaking accurate assessment and planning of care, delivery and ongoing evaluation of care plans, together with appropriate hand-over, to ensure all residents’ needs are continuously met
- responsible for the effective deployment and supervision of staff within the care team, ensuring all tasks are completed during the period of duty and residents receive required care
- liaise with health and social care professionals involved in the wellbeing of individual residents to maintain a holistic approach to their care
- instruction of all staff in safe systems of work, fire safety and evacuation procedures and induction of new staff
- act as a focal point for contact with residents, their relatives and visitors, as well as health and social care professionals involved in their wellbeing, ensuring that any reasonable requests are acted upon and concerns or complaints are promptly investigated and dealt with appropriately
- provide advice to families of residents and GP’s of any changes in condition, which gives rise to concern and keeps them informed and involved in choices for ongoing care
- these duties are not exhaustive. Job holders may be asked to undertake other responsibilities, within their spheres of responsibility and competence
- act courteously toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensure effective communication is maintained
- attend all relevant staff meetings
- practice safe systems of work across the range of tasks and moving and handling of residents, by assessing risks and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff
- to support the Manager in the implementation of all policies, procedures and induction of new staff
- contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and auctioning all reasonable work instructions promptly
- advise on the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring the timely and appropriate ordering of replacement goods
