• highgate seeks to temporarily appoint an experienced music teacher to cover individual lessons in the Junior School for a minimum of half a term , and to provide weekly group tuition cover, on the Junior Strings Project under the HeadStart programme on Wednesday afternoons
• to provide 30 music lessons to each pupil each academic year
• the role requires the music teacher to provide pupils with a rounded musical education through the medium of the teacher's instrument and its range of repertoire
• to ensure that each pupil is aware of their practice requirements for the next lesson and is following those requirements
• to prepare pupils to perform in concerts and in other public events
• to prepare pupils for public exams as appropriate
• to attend the mandatory VMT Forum in September and Safeguarding training as requested by the Director of Music
• to write reports to parents or carers once a year on each pupil’s progress or to attend visiting music teachers’ parents consultation evening twice a year

Responsibility

• undertaking locker room and form room supervision for Lower School
• escorting pupils across the School site including those with sustained injuries
• assisting the Welfare staff including the Nurses with the escorting of pupils

• maintaining safe and tidy designated recreational areas and reporting matters of concern to relevant staff
• undertaking effective, constructive and positive pupil supervision in and around the Senior School site, including recreational areas on the Bishopswood Road site, during break periods, lesson changeover times and occasionally in classrooms
• taking shared responsibility for health and safety and cleanliness and tidiness of communal areas
• assisting with actively maintaining the safety and good order of pupils during lesson transitions between sites including on private or public footpaths
• administering first aid when required on completion of a First Aid at Work course
• undertaking the removal of spent displays from around the Senior School as instructed
• accompanying pupils on authorised off-site trips in line with School needs
• undertaking tuck shop duties including stock control and effective handling of money
• with support from the Head of Catering and Domestic Services, you will have autonomy to implement new service standards to improve efficiency and raise the standard of catering service to our customers
• assisting with reporting on attendance and registers when necessary
• raising with the Heads of Year any pastoral, behavioural or procedural difficulties
• assisting the School with the sorting and processing of lost property, ensuring that belongings are returned to their owners in an efficient and timely manner

• keep accurate records of all changes to policies and ensure historic versions are available when required
• maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant changes regarding compliance within independent schools and make suggestions of necessary actions
• work closely with the Compliance Director to develop an analysis of current policies and practices for potential risks and advise managers of necessary changes
• maintain SharePoint sites, website and any other platforms in the area of compliance

• confirm that the statutory inspections, checks and risk assessments are undertaken within required timeframes
