Requirements


  • good level of IT skills and knowledge of the practical application of IT systems and the use of Microsoft Office
  • is able to express themselves clearly in verbal and written form
  • has an understanding of the Building Regulations and their application
  • A diplomatic and tactful approach to dealing with negotiation and potential conflict situations
  • minimum level of qualification is to have successfully completed a Building related course of study such as NVQ level 4 or HNC

  • A degree level qualification in construction related studies would be desirable and registration with an appropriate professional body at Technician or Associate level

Responsibility


  • supervisory responsibility and requirement to assist in induction and training of peers and new employees
  • to assist the BCM in implementing initiatives set by the Council, Group and Team Plans
  • to assist the BCM with the management and allocation of work for your team and maintain quality of output
  • to work as a senior member of a multi-disciplinary team of specialist professionals in Building Control surveying, structural engineering, fire safety and building services
  • ensuring that all functions of the Building Control Service are effectively managed on the jobs/projects for which the Principal Building Control Surveyor has responsibility
  • to assist in setting the standard and tone of your team and working closely with the Building Control Manager to achieve this end
  • location: Uxbridge
  • contract: 3 months
  • to assist in the active promotion of the service, including working under the LABC Partnership Scheme. If allocated a partner agent, develop a close working relationship with the agent to deliver a high standard of service

  • support the Assets Leads to deliver all aspects of planned and reactive works to customers in their homes
  • manage programmes of work and problem solve to deliver a high-quality service, on time and to agreed budget
  • conduct full building surveys and prepare reports and recommendations including cost analysis within all aspects of planned and reactive works
  • oversee responsive repairs works to enable improvements to the planned maintenance programmes
  • assist with the management of the void process in accordance with the contract/ active asset management strategy and oversee contractor works
  • support the Building Projects team and client in providing professional advice and good understanding of the profile of the range of properties in the area, primarily residential but including some commercial property
  • conduct Stock Condition Surveys as directed by the Planned Investment/Building Projects team
